A Day in Doha: Gourmet Dining, Market Fun, and Family Memories

Our journey through Doha, Qatar, has been packed with incredible experiences, but today’s adventure has a special place in our hearts. Not only did we savor one of the best meals of our lives at Boho Social, but we also had a blast exploring the vibrant souks and markets. These aren’t just travel stories; they’re the moments that make our family who we are, and we truly love sharing them with you!

As a full-time traveling family, we’re often asked why we share our lives so openly on YouTube. The truth is, these videos are much more than just travel vlogs. They are a living scrapbook for our daughter, Shanti. We want her to have a way to relive our family’s adventures and the lessons we’ve learned along the way. While we hope our viewers find joy in our videos, our primary goal is to preserve these memories for Shanti’s future.

Our day started with a visit to Boho Social, a restaurant located in Katara Village, just north of Doha. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning architecture and decor of the place. Boho Social is more than just a restaurant – it’s truly an experience! The interior is creatively decorated, making us feel like we had stepped into a luxurious yet cozy bohemian retreat.

The service at Boho Social was exceptional. The staff made us feel like family, and they went above and beyond to make our meal super special. We were extremely lucky and got to be served their new winter menu, which included a variety of delicious dishes from around the world. Every bite was an experience! Even I claimed it to be some of the best food in the world, and that’s a lot to be said after eating my way through 60 countries!

Please tell me you noticed Shanti’s little finger in the purée 😂

For Shanti, the not-so-basic Mac and cheese was a highlight of the day as she claimed it to be the best in the whole universe! Matt and I recognized the attention to detail when the staff brought her a cup of pomegranate seeds (after watching her pic every single one off dishes that were adjourned with them). Moments like these remind us of the kindness of others that make our travels so special. The staff even gave us a tour of the kitchen, which was a treat for Shanti, who now dreams of being a chef one day.

After our meal, we headed to the local souks to explore the vibrant market culture of Doha. The souks are a sensory feast – from the eccentric colors to the aromatic spices, there’s so much to see and experience. Matt and Shanti tried on traditional Qatari clothing and we re-visited our favorite snack shop for more dates, figs, and nuts!

By the end of the evening, we were all a little tied and definitely hot, so Matt and I thought Turkish ice cream would be the perfect way to wrap it up! Wrong. Turns out Shanti was a little too tired for the “show” and ended in tears while resentfully eating her ice cream.

Dad-“Does it taste good?” Shanti-“Not really, cuz he made me cry”.

Our day in Doha was a perfect blend of culinary delight, cultural exploration, and family bonding, even through tear-filled ice cream. These are the moments we cherish the most – the shared meals, the laughter, and the simple joys of discovering new places together. As we continue our journey, we’re excited to see what other adventures await us in this incredible city.

Next up, we’ll be escaping the heat by checking out an indoor snow park and exploring more of Doha’s family-friendly attractions. Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel for the entertaining video and close ups caught in action!
